Today's Google Doodle for March 19, 2023, is in memory of Mexican chemist Dr. Mario Molina, & today is his 80th birthday.

Mario Molina, born on March 19, 1943, in Mexico. His real name was Mario José Molina Henríquez.

Molina received his bachelor's degree in chemical science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Later, he received his Master of Science degree from the University of Freiburg, Germany.

Molina was a Mexican-born scientist. Who discovered how chemicals and chlorofluorocarbons are destroying the ozone layer.

Dr. Mario Molina had discovered the hole being formed in the ozone layer, which is mainly caused by CFCs and HCFCs.

For his discovery of the Antarctic ozone hole, Dr Molina was awarded the 1995 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Dr. Mario Molina was also the first Mexican scientist to receive a Noble Prize in the field of chemistry.

On October 7, 2020, at the age of 77, Dr. Mario Molina died due to a heart attack.
